We wanted to capture the essence of New England living: indicative of the many people that have spent time in the mansion. Pieces should appear to be collected and assembled over time, a visual progression and layering. Traditional architectural details, time-worn consoles, and Danvers Historical Society artifacts will be layered into modernized finishes and a lightened-up color palette. Historical photographs of the grounds will allude to the rich history and horticultural influences of the property. As the primary egress to the Dining Room, Library, and Small Parlor, these hallways are a great opportunity to allow visitors a visual transition point from the grandeur of the foyer. We plan to create a space that encourages people to pause and take in the beautiful architectural details that are featured in the ceiling and intricate moldings around the arches and wainscoting The hallways will become more than just a means of entering the adjacent rooms, and can in fact unite many of the first floor spaces in a cohesive and neutral design aesthetic. Painting the walls a warm grey provides a perfect backdrop for a traditional wood console, beautiful table lamps, and

artwork found in the mansion. Layering lighting, texture, accessories and artwork will bring a fresh life to these underappreciated transitional spaces.

EAST AND WEST HALLWAYS

Added in the 1893 renovations, the East and West Hallways appear to be symmetrical but, in actuality, the West Hallway is larger. Both Hallways are noted for the balanced proportions, vaulted ceilings and simple but elegant woodwork
