The family referred to this room as the Empire Room because the furniture it contained dated to Napoleon’s time. The Empire Style would have been the fashionable furniture style between 1820 and 1840. The Honorable Joseph Chamberlain, Mary Endicott’s husband, often used this bedroom while staying at The Farm.
