TRADITIONAL CHARM WITH A MODERN FEEL

As a designer who takes her cues from the architecture and surrounding scenery, Diana Kennedy took a romantic

approach to the Bride's Bathroom, creating an updated Victorian look that is both Parisian and Chinoiserie.

Utilizing the room's great height, Diana painted the walls with wide stripes of cream and beige. She then framed

it with trellis wallpaper on the ceiling, drawing the eye upward in a playful reverie. Her style, after all, is to inject a twist of the unexpected.

Balance is also a key to Diana's design work so she softened the ambiance with a lovely skirt on the pedestal sink and added a reupholstered Ottoman along with a gold bamboo etagere. The result is a warm, dreamy space that combines traditional charm with a modern feel.

ABOUT DIANA KENNEDY: Diana operates her own interior design company in Wakefield, Mass., serving residential clients in the greater Boston area. Her projects range from simple room schemes to kitchen and bathroom renovations to exquisite designs and themes for the entire home.Using a down-to-earth collaborative approach with her clients, Diana translates feelings and ideas into tangible schemes that combine a wide array of colors, patterns and styles.

She holds a Master's degree in Interior Design from New England School of Art & Design, one of the country's top

"[There] seems to be within all of us an innate yearning to be lifted momentarily out of our own lives into the realm of charm and make believe. "    - Dorothy Draper

BRIDE'S BATH

As with the Guest Bath, the Bride's Bath is notable in that it too has a full window overlooking the Great Lawn. It

also has, on the opposite wall, a fan window, allowing light into the Bride's room closet.
